We are currently seeking a Full Time Demi Chef to join our Culinary team.
Your Day to Day
As a Demi Chef, your passion for food, creativity, and attention to detail will help bring our culinary experiences to life. Reporting to the Executive Chef, you will be part of a dynamic and talented kitchen brigade dedicated to delivering exceptional food experiences across The Fireplace, Cove Café, Verandah Restaurant & Bar, Lagoon Beach Club, and our extensive Meetings & Events operations.
This is an exciting opportunity for an emerging culinary professional who is eager to develop their skills in a large luxury resort environment, gaining exposure to a variety of cuisines, cooking styles, and service operations.
In this role, you will:
- Prepare and present high-quality dishes in accordance with established recipes, standards, and presentation guidelines.
- Support the delivery of Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner services across a variety of dining outlets and event spaces.
- Work across multiple kitchen sections, gaining exposure to à la carte dining, premium restaurant service, banquets, and casual dining concepts.
- Assist senior chefs with the preparation and production of menu items while maintaining consistency and quality.
- Ensure all food is prepared and presented to the highest standards of taste, quality, and presentation.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment at all times.
- Adhere to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation requirements, including HACCP principles and procedures.
- Support stock rotation, inventory control, and the minimisation of food wastage.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the Culinary team to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations.
- Contribute ideas, creativity, and enthusiasm to support menu development and innovation.
- Participate in training, development, and learning opportunities to further enhance your culinary skills.
- Uphold IHG brand standards, policies, and values in all aspects of your work.
What We Need From You
Ideally, you'll bring:
- 2-3 years' experience in a professional kitchen environment.
- Previous experience within a hotel, resort, premium restaurant, or luxury hospitality setting.
- A Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent culinary qualification.
- Knowledge of food safety practices and experience working with HACCP or similar food safety systems.
- A genuine passion for food, creativity, and hospitality.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering quality dishes.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- The ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
- The ability to work collaboratively within a team and take direction from senior chefs.
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- A current Australian Driver Licence.
- Full Australian working rights.
