Role Purpose

 

The Sales Associate, Global Accounts (SAGA) provides key support to IHG's Global Accounts by serving as the primary liaison between the Global Account Director (GAD), hotels, and internal stakeholders, offering time savings to the dedicated Global Accounts Team through clear and timely communication. An important focus of this role is managing the end-to-end RFP process for Global Accounts—from preparation and launch through hotel communication and resolution. The SAGA also serves as the first point of contact for hotel inquiries seeking information, advice, and support, helping to resolve concerns as they arise. SAGAs are proactive communicators dedicated to supporting client requirements in partnership with GADs and internal stakeholders. They also provide strong support to GADs and Global Accounts by researching and compiling data, maintaining spreadsheets and databases, and preparing reports, presentations, and other documentation as needed.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

 

Key Liaison with Hotels and internal stakeholders for Information and Support on Global Accounts 

  • First point of contact for hotels when seeking information, advice and RFP support for Global Accounts 
  • Ongoing communication maintaining excellent knowledge of the relevant Global Accounts with the GAD in order to be able to respond to the majority of queries directly 
  • Find optimum ways to communicate and escalate issues and opportunities with GAT 
  • Work with GAD and internal stakeholders to resolve Global Account complaints, communications and opportunities 
  • Compose clear and concise correspondence as requested or required 

 

Global Account RFP Accountability 

  • Work with GAD to handle all administrative aspects of the RFP for Global Accounts 
  • Prepare and Launch Global Accounts RFP in IHG system, as necessary, in accordance with the Account Requirements and GAT negotiations, while staying aligned with IHG RFP Strategy 
  • Communicate with hotels and ensure timely responses and feedback is given 
  • Work with hotels to resolve questions or issues with the RFP and where possible provide feedback on their submissions 

 

Dedicated support to Global Account Directors (GADs) and their Accounts 

  • Research and compile a variety of moderately complex data to include creating spreadsheets or databases for maintaining and reporting management information; may require some analysis of data. 
  • Prepare and distribute a variety of departmental reports, presentations, newsletters, studies and/or other support documentation, gathering and summarizing information from various sources as requested.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

 

Required Skills – 

  • Experience and knowledge of sales principles and techniques including but not limited to Global Accounts 
  • Clear, concise and succinct communication skills, including adapting both verbal and written communication to the needs and level of user.   
  • Time management skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks/clients required.   
  • Ability to build and manage relationships with stakeholders. Ability to interact on a professional level with management and clients. 
  • Ability to maintain a consistent, high quality customer-focused orientation, including providing clear, accurate information; explaining procedures or materials or providing supplemental information; anticipating problems or questions. 
  • Excellent PC Skills (including Word; Excel; Outlook) 
  • Knowledge and experience of Sales Systems (i.e. Lanyon; Javelin; GDS, etc.)      

 

Qualifications – 

  • Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree or technical institute degree/certificate or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience. 

 

Experience – 

  • 1-3 years progressive work-related experience within a regional sales team, or similar environment, with demonstrated proficiency and understanding of one or more functions related to the position. 
  • Has at least two years experience in an important support and/or sales role such as Sales Coordinator and/or Sales Executive
