As Assistant Guest Experience Manager - Marine, you’ll be at the heart of Hayman Island’s incredible experiences on the water. From welcoming guests aboard private charters and coordinating unforgettable marine adventures to supporting motorised water sports and working alongside our marine team and external tour operators, you’ll help bring the magic of the Whitsundays to life.

Reporting to the Guest Experience Manager and working with the broader Guest Experience team, you’ll lead from the front - inspiring your team, creating seamless guest journeys and ensuring every experience is delivered safely, professionally and with genuine warmth. You’ll have the opportunity to turn a day on the water into a “wow” moment, whether that’s a private island adventure, an exhilarating water sports experience or simply helping a guest discover the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who loves being around people, thrives in a fast-paced environment and understands that the little details make a big difference. You’ll support operational excellence, champion safety and compliance, build strong relationships with our partners and continuously look for new ways to elevate our marine experiences.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Lead the action on the water, oversee the daily marina and water sports operation, from guest arrivals and vessel movements to charters, berthing and motorised activities. 

• Create unforgettable guest experiences, deliver a polished VIP marina arrival and work closely with Concierge, Front Office and other teams to make every guest’s journey seamless. 

• Keep everything ship-shape, ensure our vessels, pontoons, equipment and guest areas are beautifully presented, safe, clean and ready for the day ahead. 

• Lead and inspire your team, coach, develop and support your people while coordinating rosters, briefings, training and day-to-day operations across a busy island environment. 

• Balance safety, service and performance, stay ahead of weather and operational changes, maintain maritime compliance, work with Engineering and partners, and identify opportunities to grow our marine experiences and revenue.

To be successful in this full-time role, you’ll have:

• Demonstrated leadership experience in marine, marina, vessel or watersports operations within a commercial environment.

• Relevant maritime qualifications appropriate to the Resort’s vessel operations. Master 24 and MED 2, or equivalent applicable qualifications, are highly regarded.

• Current First Aid, CPR or role-appropriate equivalents.

• Strong working knowledge of AMSA, DETSI, GBRMPA, Maritime Safety Queensland, marine safety management systems, Work Health and Safety and vessel compliance.

• Experience managing vessel documentation, team certifications, maintenance planning, risk assessments and emergency procedures.

• Strong leadership, communication and guest-service skills within a luxury or high-service environment.

• Financial acumen with experience in managing budgets, revenue and labour.

• Ability to build effective relationships with regulators, contractors, tour operators, vessel owners and internal stakeholders.

• Strong problem-solving skills and confidence making operational decisions in changing weather and marine conditions.
